TODAY’S NEWS

CHEERS TO 22 YEARS!

As BAAM Consulting marks its 22nd anniversary, we reflect on the incredible journey we’ve shared with our loyal clients. Your trust and support have been the cornerstone of our success.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working on a diverse array of projects—from repurposed wool stores and custom waterproofing solutions to intricate insurance claims and detailed concrete repairs. Each project has enriched our experience and demonstrated the myriad ways things can evolve and present challenges.

Our boss-man has continued to put significant time into representing the needs of the remedial industry with his work on the ACRA Board and the Advocacy Committee with the NSW Building Commissioner’s Office.  He’s enjoyed the teamwork from his colleagues there, and promises to continue in good spirits!

We also extend our deepest gratitude to our exceptional staff, whose dedication has been vital in building and sustaining BAAM’s legacy.

To everyone who has been a part of BAAM Consulting over the past 22 years, a heartfelt thank you to you all. We look forward to continuing our journey together and embracing future opportunities.

STRATA REMEDIAL UPDATE:

The Department of Planning and Environment has published the  ‘Remedial Building Work – State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008’ Fact Sheet.  This Fact Sheet provides guidance as to when remedial building work is considered exempt development under the Exempt and Complying Development clauses.  Find it here:  https://www.planning.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2023-07/remedial-building-work-sepp-fact-sheet.pdf

The correct assessment of remedial works as either exempt or not exempt development clearly has massive consequences for owners’ corporations in the undertaking of remedial projects.  For more detail, refer to SWAAB Lawyers (Helen Kowal) discussion here: https://www.swaab.com.au/publication/alert-construction-industry-update-when-is-remedial-building-work-exempt-development-11-july-2023

As NSW President of ACRA, our Director Grahame Vile, continues to remain involved in the Advocacy group working with the Government in the Remedial/Strata consultation process.  There will be further developments to report on, however in the interim, the Fact Sheet provides general information and welcome guidance to the industry.

This is an outstanding result in the consultation process and a positive outcome for the industry, with significant input by ACRA members and the entire Advocacy group working on behalf of the NSW remedial industry.

Good changes and procedures are coming online out of the recent legislative changes brought about by our NSW Building Commissioner.  Decennial Insurance – it’s a good idea.   These will provide apartment owners confidence in the build – read this to contrast the differences: https://www.smh.com.au/property/news/one-apartment-block-scored-a-gold-star-what-about-its-neighbour-20230302-p5coub.html
